Testimonials

The most important ambassadors for our school are satisfied pupils and parents, as well as successful alumni. We are proud to consistently receive excellent reviews and wonderful feedback on various social networks (Google, Facebook).

This is what pupils and parents say about us:

The consistent fostering of subject-specific knowledge is pursued just as diligently as the development of social skills. Terra Nova Bilingual School supports us in our endeavour to impart values such as openness and tolerance to our daughter in a multicultural environment.
Swiss family, daughter at Terra Nova since Kindergarten, currently in Year 3.

We initially decided to send our son to Terra Nova so that he could obtain the intercultural competence that we believe is fundamental in this world. What we have received these last 5 years goes beyond our highest expectations. Terra Nova provides the space and support for our son to flourish in his own way, whilst at the same time giving an education that fosters a higher level of connectivity and supports the richness of human capacity. This is, in our view, the best way to support our son in moving towards a very uncertain future. Last but not least, it is a happy place. The staff and students encourage each other, understand each other and assist each other. Utopia does indeed exist at Florastrasse 19, 8700 Küsnacht.

When we decided to enrol our elder daughter in Terra Nova Bilingual School’s bilingual kindergarten, we had no idea what an adventurous journey we were embarking on. As two – reasonably worldly – but distinctly Swiss German-speaking parents, we thought a second language couldn’t hurt. We were amazed when, after just a few months, all the children in the first kindergarten class could – and wanted to – converse in both languages. English was thus relatively quickly ‘mastered’ for us. From then on, we marvelled at the ease with which the teachers engaged with the children, identified and specifically fostered their strengths, while also ensuring that any areas for improvement were addressed in good time. The school leadership, in particular, makes us such great fans of Terra Nova. Especially in challenging situations, which can arise at any school, they have always performed exceptionally, thereby building trust. The decision to enrol our second daughter at Terra Nova was therefore very easy. We have never regretted the decision – quite the opposite. Not only our children, but we too have made many new friends. Relationships that will hopefully last a lifetime.

Our son – now in Year 2 – has been attending Terra Nova since Kindergarten 1. We chose Terra Nova at the time because we liked the concept of bilingual education and the family-like atmosphere at the school. Our son has blossomed at Terra Nova and quickly felt comfortable even on English-speaking school days, although he had no prior exposure to the language. He has transformed from a shy kindergartner into a confident Year 2 pupil, has made good friends, and has learned a great deal in all areas. The teachers at Terra Nova are passionate educators – motivated and committed. Children are encouraged and challenged in their uniqueness. Should there ever be questions, suggestions, or a problem, the teachers and the school leadership are always available for a discussion. Our son enjoys going to school every day, looks forward to seeing his friends and teachers. The impression of the school’s family-like character has proven true – not only do pupils know each other across classes, but parents at Terra Nova also know each other and regularly exchange ideas. Even during the challenging lockdown phase in 2020, the sense of community was strengthened. We are glad we chose Terra Nova – it was the right decision for us and our son.

As we often had long working days and business trips, we looked for an all-day school for our daughter after nursery. At Terra Nova, we found an international yet family-like atmosphere where school and hobbies (ballet, piano, among others) are united under one roof. And the fact that our daughter is now perfectly fluent in English is a welcome side effect. She is now in Year 6, and we know that saying goodbye will be very difficult for us.

As a working mother, I rely on a flexible childcare structure for my two children. Terra Nova Bilingual School allows me to organise each working day individually and flexibly. Since we speak exclusively Swiss German in our family, a bilingual learning environment at school is central for us. It is remarkable how playfully our children learn the English language. We value the small classes and half-class teaching at Terra Nova, where each child receives individual encouragement and support. We greatly appreciate the personal approach at Terra Nova, be it with the school leadership, the teachers, or the after-school care staff.
